This year I have painted on everything from a coffin to canvas.
While I have been dormant as a DA member for too long I am happy to see people still discussing ^that Peta piece, while the +favs here and there appeal to the ego I believed to be a non entity.
While I may have not been showcasing any work I have not been entirely absent from art itself. I now am the proud owner of a 50mm prime so have a little fun exploring the possibilities a low F-stop can produce. Thanks to my girlfriend I am constantly bombarded with interesting models, sculptures and experiences to capture on, I want to say film, camera.
I have so, so to speak, entered the real world of work, although I wouldn't attempt to deceive the world by pretending I have bought into the lie which constitutes our society yet. Maybe a few more years, a position of power and a fat salary. Maybe not.
My point however, and I am aware of my tendency to wander of track, is that I now find my time constricted even more greatly than when working on my research thesis. Art is sacrificed for food and paying debts.
Not sacrificed entirely however as I am working on a painting which actually displays a degree of detail rather than my rather over worked method of bluntly shoving my point in your face. Yes, I used crude language on purpose.
So, what next? (I hear the non-existent reader cry)
I will make a concerted effort to catalogue the work that has slipped by over the past few months and take advantage of the stack of blank canvas collecting dust and my improved collection of acrylic.
